Genre, Audience and Representations

I have finally decided on my genre, the audience I will be aiming at and the social group(s) that I will be representing.

Genre

The genre I have chosen is thriller. I have chosen this because of my passion for thrillers and my interest in psychological and mentally unstable characters. My favorite films revolve around the thriller/mystery genre, so I also hope to bring in a dash of mystery.

Films that directly relate to the ideas I have in mind are Se7en, Fight Club and American Psycho. However I have chosen to look at a few other films that aren't particularly thrillers but their title sequences contain elements that I would love to adapt into my own sequence, for example Donnie Darko, Edward Scissorhands and Dorian Gray.

Audience

The audience I have chosen to aim my title sequence at is people aged 16-30. It will appeal to teenagers who find psycho's and clinically insane/mentally unstable people intriguing and most adults up to approximately 30.

Representation

The social group that I will portray in my title sequence is mentally unstable people, who have psychopathic tendencies.
